2012 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition Puts Premium on Patriotism
The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Freedom edition starts at $29,090 for the two-door model and $31,595 for the Wrangler Unlimited four-door version. Pricing includes a $925 destination charge.
The Wrangler Freedom edition is based on the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport, which starts at $22,970, including shipping.
The most expensive 2012 Wrangler remains the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty MW3 edition, which starts at $37,805, including shipping.
Chrysler is billing the Wrangler Freedom edition as "a tribute to U.S. military members past and present." It comes in red, white or blue (the True Blue paint is exclusive to the Freedom Edition) and features a military-inspired decal on the hood and rear quarter panels, as well as an "Oscar Mike" fender badge. Chrysler said in a statement that "Oscar Mike" is "military jargon for 'on the move.'"
The cabin gets black seats with an "Oscar Mike" logo in silver stitching. Other details include Satin Chrome spokes on the leather-wrapped steering wheel and Mopar Slush all-weather floor mats. Standard amenities include power windows and locks, keyless entry, and the UConnect voice command and connectivity group.
The Wrangler Freedom edition is equipped with a 285-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. Chrysler said that $250 from each Wrangler Freedom edition sold will be donated to military charities.
